Days 19 & 20: Ogden/Eden, Utah

Days 19 & 20: Ogden/Eden, Utah

Thursday, November 5th. It's a gorgeous day in Eden, temperatures were in the mid 60's which was really nice for this time of year and considering that they had snow a couple of weeks before that... snow still covered Ben Lomond and Mount Ogden peaks.

Mom and I decided to stay at the Chateau and pamper ourselves. I put up Mom's hair in curlers and we both gave ourselves mini pedicures and manicures... nice after almost three weeks on the road. Drew went to the Impact Gun shop and range in West Ogden to get some target practice and sight in his rifle.

By the time Drew returned home, Mom had phoned several of her relatives and friends in town. It's funny how she doesn't think that she can make those same calls from Marathon... I guess it's different. She did connect with Audrey Coleman, who owns Li'l Audrey's Health Spa and Fitness Center. Mom has been a "life long" member since the early 70's and friends to Audrey and her husband Joel. When I made the call for Mom, Audrey's daughter Celeste answered the phone. I knew Celeste as a family friend and I also went to private school with her brothers in Salt Lake City during the late 60's, early 70's. Celeste called me Cora Beth... now you know that dates back a few years. We drove down the canyon to visit... Audrey looks the same. We all reminisced and caught up on the years gone by.

James and Colleen decided to join us for dinner and made the drive over Trapper's Loop road to Eden. We met at Harley and Bucks at the old general store in Eden and we enjoyed top shelf margaritas, sizziling fajitas and shared a HUGE piece of triple chocolate cake.

Friday, November 6th. Another beautiful day in Eden, Drew stayed home, relaxed a bit and took the poodle and the doodle for a nice long walk in Radford Hills and down by the Pine View Reservoir and Yacht Club. I took Mom in to town to visit and place flowers on my father's grave. Mom wanted to stop by the Memorial Gardens office just to make sure that all arrangements had been made for her to rest in peace next to her beloved husband, Spencer... actually that had been done years ago by Dad.

I then took Mom to one of her long time friends home, Camille Huggins. Camille had arranged for a group of Maye's friends to get together for lunch. I went on to do a little shopping at Dillards and then went back to Eden. Mom had lunch and spent most of the afternoon with her friends. She did brag that she was probably the oldest of the group and could still get around better then the others... has to be the Aquacise classes that keeps her moving so well.

She had also made plans to have dinner and visit "one of her favorite" nephews, Cory and his wife, Julie in North Ogden. They are a very sweet and loving family... and Mom holds a very special place in her heart for them. In the mean time, Drew and I went to a small get together with some of my Bonneville High School Class of 75' alumni friends at Diana (Bishop) Ruple's beautiful home in West Haven. They are also FaceBook friends and knew I was going to be "Trippin' in to Utah"... great reason for a party! Always good to see them, giggle, share stories and even pull out the yearbooks from 35 years ago... yikes... are we that old? Certainly don't feel it!!! We got back to Cory and Julies house to pick up Mom just about 10pm and we stayed to visit for a while longer. We drove back to Eden over the North Ogden Pass... a windy road that Drew had never been on... he didn't even know it was there.
